Legislative Affairs Committee (LA)
Meetings: Tuesday 8:00pm in the LCC Office room 107 in Livingston Student Center
The Legislative Affairs Committee (LA) is responsible for the lobbying efforts to local, state and federal officials on behalf of the Livingston Campus students. This committee also works with the University Office of State and Federal Relations, as well as the Legislative Affairs committee of the Rutgers University Student Assembly. Additionally, LA holds one public awareness event each semester and works through out the year to ensure that the university receives adequate funding from the state. Most recently this committee has reached out to local officials in Piscataway township to build a working relationship with the Mayors office and other willing Council men and women.

Current issues:
The Legislative Affairs Committee (LA) is working this Fall 2007 semester on campus involvement in the upcoming statewide general election. By informing students of voting procedures, locations, and candidate stances while directing them on Election Day, LA hopes to foster a large turnout on campus.
LA also passed a resolution in support of A994, a bill proposed in the state General Assembly that would require the university to make optional rented textbooks. LA plans to combine efforts with RUSA-LA to help this resolution become a reality for Rutgers students.
Additional upcoming projects include a university-wide debate in conjunction with the Rutgers University Democrats and Rutgers University Republicans as well as a financial aid seminar.
Anyone interested in Legislative Affairs is welcome to attend the meeting and participate in our events.Documents:
